10 ways to increase traffic to your blog

Here are some simple tips for getting more traffic to your blog. This was sent to me by a friend and I had to also share them.

1) Comment on other Blogs
Look for blogs which have large traffic, and who have similar content or a similar theme with yours, visit them and leave your comments on their blogs posts. Make useful comments, and other readers might follow your link.

2) Participate in Forums
Join forums that allow you to add a link in your signature and start participating in discussions. Use your blog or site link in your signature and participate often in discussions. Make sure you use forums that are related to your blog, preferably with over 5,000 members and read the forum rules to determine whether you can promote your blogs and websites in your signature.

3) Write Articles
Write articles that are related to your blog and post them on popular article directories such as ezinearticles.com, Articledashboard.com and goarticle.com. Quality articles may give you a lot of free targeted traffic.

4) Post on your blog often
If you post often on your blog, you stand a better chance of building a reader base, and getting more steady traffic. Choose interesting and useful topics that will have your readers coming back for more. Quality posts will give you lots of readers.

5) Submit Your Blog to Directories
Submit your blog to directories. This works a little, but cannot be said to be very effective.

6) Start a Contest
Run a contest on your blog. Offer some useful prizes, and people will participate. It could increase the attention that your blog gets, and fetch you more visitors.

7) Optimize your blog
Make sure your blog's title tag and description contain your targeted keywords. When you have lots of quality posts and have done some nice promotion for your blog, you are sure to get good ranking on Google, and free search engine traffic.

With these seven tips, your blog traffic should start improving pretty soon.
